Symptoms & Diagnosis
Cavities are detected through dental exams and radiology. If left to grow to a large size, pain may be apparent when eating sweets or drinking cold water.
If the patient waits too long, then a root canal or extraction may need to be performed.
Steps to getting a filling:
- Numbing
- Decay Removal
- Replace Missing Structure
- Finish and Polish
Common problems include but are not limited to:
- – sensitivity to hot and cold, which may require root canal therapy to fix
- – teeth broken off at gum-line, which may require tooth extraction
- – chipped teeth, which may require crowns or composite bonding
- – pain that prevents sleeping, which may require antibiotics and/or immediate extraction
